Small Business Saturday

The biggest shopping day of the year in the USA is Black Friday. That’s all well and good for big business and gigantic retailers, but not so good for small businesses who can’t afford to slash prices by 80%. So today, the day after Black Friday, is Small Business Saturday, a day when we’re all urged to shop at small, local stores instead of giant corporations. Go out and support your favorite local business, they probably have some adorable gifts that you wouldn’t find elsewhere. Heck, use Etsy today. While Etsy is a pretty big business now, you’re still supporting small artists and crafters through your purchases.

In other small business news, Festival Fete is going on in Providence, RI, today, so you can meet directly with artists and crafters while you get some holiday shopping done.

Whatever you do today, try to resist the urge to get the post-Black Friday deals at a big box store and support a small business.

About clln

I'm a big-time crafter, small-time blogger. I recently moved from Toronto, ON, to Westerly, RI, and the change is pretty big. Luckily, I have a supportive husband who doesn't mind finding little pieces of yarn all over the house.
