New Etsy Item: Amigurumi Turtle

3 of my amigurumi turtles

I added a new item to my Etsy shop today, the Amigurumi Turtle!

Amigurumi Turtle

This project actually has a decent story behind it. My husband and I realized that while I’d been making little amigurumi animals for almost everyone we know, I’d never made him one. Feeling really guilty, I asked what he’d like me to make for him and he said a turtle. So I sat on the couch with him one night, furiously crocheting, then ripping out stitches, then repeating those two things many times, until I had figured out how to make him a turtle of which we could both be proud. I based it on my beloved pet red-eared slider turtle, Speedy. It took an entire hockey game to perfect.

My husband was pleased with it and asked for three more (like the four baby turtles who crawled through the radioactive ooze to become the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.) He has his four turtles, so now I can move on to making them for my Etsy shop!

I think Speedy would be proud too. You know, if he had any interest in crocheted dolls.

About clln

I'm a big-time crafter, small-time blogger. I recently moved from Toronto, ON, to Westerly, RI, and the change is pretty big. Luckily, I have a supportive husband who doesn't mind finding little pieces of yarn all over the house.
